You have a great operation in Ashland, and we both enjoyed the hunt very
much.  I look forward to hunting with you again.

We had a great hunt Tuesday afternoon. We hunted the shelter-belt west of
headquarters by the windmill. We have never shelter-belt west of headquarters
by the windmill. We have never hunted that area but it had very good cover but in
the center it had some really tall weeds to contend with. We found a covey just on
the edge of the tall weeds in the center but did not get a point. Johnny machine
gun did manage to get a single later. We also kicked up a rooster pheasant and
then Johnny chased him down and took a long shot but did not hit him.

We got back to the truck about 4:45 and we heard another covey on the far west
end of shelter-belt to the left of where you go through the fence when you are
facing the main road to the north. Johnny took Betty down there without a gun
and got her to point the covey and he flushed it and then she pointed a single. I
know this was tough for Johnny not to shoot but he is learning about the dog work
and it was great for Betty to finish on a high.

As always we really appreciate the time you spend with us and I know we both
learn something every time we are around you. Have a great rest of the season.

Thanks, Scott

Mr. Cal:

Thank you for the pictures!  I also appreciate your assessment of
Jake.  Any positive traits he has are attributed to him.  I will take the
blame for any negative characteristics.  My grandfather always told
me that my job was not to mess up the dog.  I will take your advice
and let him go and get him into as many birds as possible.

I am glad the hunters shared the note with you.  It is truly amazing to
watch you handle your dogs.  I saw one other man who was able to
communicate with his dogs while not saying very much at all-my
grandfather.  You would have enjoyed walking with him.  He wasn't a
big conversationalist but when he talked their was wisdom in his

Most of all I want to thank you for the hospitality that you and Miss
Amy showed me while I was there.  The meals and opportunity to visit
with you were worth the drive.  I will be buying and extra bushel of
peanuts this year for Miss Amy and give them to her next year-that is
if you will have me.

Have a safe rest of the season and safe travels to you and Miss Amy
on your return trip.  Pat the dogs on the head for me (especially

I can't thank you enough for the opportunity to hunt the ranch. After
hunting pen birds the last month it makes me appreciate even more my
hunt with you.
The old dog did well but the young dog struggled with the prickly pear.
Just wondering if there's a particular brand better than another. Sounds
like a process to get the boots on.

I had a great time too. On my uneventful drive home I thought about
how impressive your dogs are. It made for a great time. Look forward
to next week with Aaron and looking at his dogs!
I enjoyed meeting Amy. Now I know why all the guys call you lucky.
Please thank her for her hospitality.
Thanks again for a great time.

I just wanted to again tell you how much “Old Fashioned” fun we had last week
while hunting with the Cottonwood Quail Company. Our guide Aaron Ferguson
and his dogs were fantastic. The hunt was challenging but we accomplished our
goals with birds in the bag.

The hospitality we were offered by our host was second to none and both Cary
and I are already discussing another trip next winter.

Thanks for a great time and see you again soon.

Cal: I just wanted to reach out and tell you how much I enjoyed our Hunt. I literally
watched the light come on for my young female Ava. It also helped solidify the
progress Fritz had made in our Texas Trip. I worked them last weekend and they
both were rock solid on point , backed and retrieved to hand.

If you zoom in on the last pic  IMG 3656 Debra was able to capture the quail in

Will, Debra  and I hope to be hunting on the Red River just North of Chillicothe Tx
this weekend. Hope to avoid the Porkies and Pigs !!

I wish you the best and look forward to next Season.

As always we enjoy your paradise on the prairie!  Wishing you a great spring and
summer and plentiful birds.  Our Kansas trip was great for Hawk, and especially
wonderful for Russ’s puppies.

Love to Amy!
